FAQs

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the nature of your challenges, goals and expectations from therapy, and your feelings about your progress. Some people notice changes in a few sessions, while others may need more time, especially for deeper issues.
During our first session, I will focus on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. I will ask some questions about your background, current situation, and what you’re hoping to achieve through therapy. The first session is really about building a foundation for our work together as a client and therapist and I welcome any questions you might have about the process.
Therapy typically doesn’t involve a trial or demo session in the way that some other services might. The first session is designed to be an introduction where we can get to know each other and discuss your concerns. It’s a full session, just like any other, where we’ll start exploring your goals and how I can support you.
A diagnosis depends on your situation and goals in therapy. Some clients find a diagnosis helpful in understanding their experiences, but not everyone needs or receives one. At heal with Harmehak, our focus is on improving your well-being and helping you achieve your goals, with or without a diagnosis.
The frequency of sessions depends on your specific needs. Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build progress. Over time, we can adjust to bi-weekly or monthly as you improve. We’ll regularly review what works best for you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please inform me at least 24 hours before our scheduled session. Rescheduling within this notice period is free of charge. Late cancellations or changes within 24 hours are considered last-minute, and no refunds will be available. If I need to reschedule, I will notify you in advance.
Therapy sessions are usually one-on-one for privacy and confidentiality. If you’d like someone to join you, we can discuss it in the first session. In cases like family therapy or special support needs, having someone present might be appropriate, but individual attendance is generally encouraged.
As a psychologist, I specialize in therapy and counselling, which involves helping you address your concerns through talk therapy and behavioural techniques. I do not prescribe medication, as this is typically within the scope of a psychiatrist or a medical doctor. If needed, I can refer you to a qualified psychiatrist.
